Get Involved: Corporate Volunteering Opportunities with Greenstreams
If your organisation is looking for a team activity that gets you out in
the fresh air and benefits the local environment then Greenstreams can help!
We currently provide the Warden Service,
managing sites on or near the River Colne from Huddersfield town centre to Marsden and we need your help to maximise the potential
of this vital ‘wildlife corridor. We can offer a range of activities for a small donation to cover our costs.
Companies also have the option to leave their mark on the landscape via a sponsored piece of ‘countryside furniture’
such as a bench, a signpost or an improved footpath. Choosing to work with Greenstreams generates positive publicity for your
organisation as well as benefitting the local communities and wildlife of the Huddersfield area. Whether you require a full
day’s activity or just an afternoon out we will do our best to adapt to your requirements.
We provide full
risk assessments and method statements and our trained staff will provide guidance and supervision on the day. A typical
session might include one or more of the following activities:
Riverside
Clean-Ups Possibly the quickest way to make a real impact, a well organised litter pick will dramatically
transform a site in a matter of hours and volunteers have often commented on the sense of satisfaction gained from such visible
results.
Woodland Management Days Many of our sites are accessed via
footpaths through wooded areas. These woods require management to stay healthy and there is much work to do pruning and felling
smaller trees with handsaws. The timber can often then be used to create wildlife habitats within the woodland.
Footpath Creation/ Improvement We have
a number of footpaths in need of work, from cutting back vegetation to rebuilding steps and stiles; an excellent opportunity
for team building exercises.Should your organisation be interested in a greater involvement in Greenstreams we also have sites
available for adoption.
Companies with the resources to commit to a longer term project have the opportunity to
make lasting improvements delivered through a series of scheduled workdays across several months. We are
happy to come to your offices to discuss your involvement directly with you. Thank you
